Divertimento for Clarinet and Piano
The piece was written as part of composer’s plan to write a series of compositions for wind instruments in a cooperation with the Department of Wind Instruments at PWSM in Warsaw. The piece has three movements with the first and the third lively and joyful. The second movement has a melodious quasi arioso and reflective style.
The clarinet part demands high virtuoso skills, explores the instrument to its maximum ability. It dominates technically over the piano however in regards to musical narrative it is balanced and both the clarinet and the piano part complement each other. The second version of this composition was written for orchestra – Divertimento for Clarinet and String Band.
