This song for was composed to illustrate the text and melody of the folk Kurpie region melody taken from the collection Kurpik. The piece was composed in the end of the 40′ of the XX century. The second version of the composition was transcripted for solo soprano and piano in 1950.

The song was composed to help composer with his work with amateur choirs. It is a strophe based piece drawing on a folk melody from the Mazovia region of Poland. Its texture is characterised by imitation technique. The same main theme is present in all voices. The song aimed at amateur choirs.

This piece has a ceremonial character and was written for the lyrics of poet Konstanty Ildefons Gałczyński. It features a well developed form and is an apotheosis of a common people song. This one movement piece has a A-B-A internal structure where each section has different tempo and mood. (more…)

The piece composed as a result of composer’s fascination with poems of Władysław Broniewski. Lyrics were taken from the lyrical poem titled Vistula (Wisła).
