Divertimento for Clarinet and String Band

The piece was written as part of composer’s plan to write a series of compositions for wind instruments in a cooperation with the Department of Wind Instruments at PWSm in Warsaw. The piece has three movements with the first and the third lively and joyful. The second movement has a melodious quasi arioso and reflective style.

The clarinet part demands high virtuoso skills, explores the instrument to its maximum ability. It dominates technically over the orchestra however in regards to musical narrative is balanced and both solo and orchestra part complement each other. Initially the piece was composed for clarinet and piano (1968).
